Midlands-based Sandra Godley has been singing at live events for a number of years and with the help of the team at Lincoln’s db Studios has created a very good showcase for her soulful vocal talents. Effectively this is a worshipful album with vertical lyrics but with a lot of retro ‘70s soul influences bubbling through but it’s not an album of congregational worship songs. There is a subtle distinction here and this is the sort of thing that makes perfect in-car listening on the way to work. I know this because I’ve tried it! I love the gentle “The Deeper Your Love” with its lyrical steals from Psalms and I’ve been playing the groovy title cut on Rimmerama for a while now. If you’re bored with the samey sound of many of this year’s worship releases, this might be worth checking out.
